Bitcoin stays near $64,000 as Brent jumps and AI fallout weighs
Brent rose as much as 4% to $91.42 a barrel, while Bitcoin traded around $64,200 and shifted about $18 billion in volume.
Bitcoin was largely flat near $64,200 on Monday, hovering around $64,000 as surging oil prices competed with lingering risk concerns from an AI-linked market pullback, according to CoinDesk.
The outlet reported that Brent crude climbed as much as 4% to $91.42 a barrel, its highest level since June, after widening U.S. and Iranian strikes revived inflation and rate worries that had eased after recent U.S. price data.
CoinDesk said crypto also had to digest the aftershock from Moonshot AI’s Kimi K3 model release, which triggered a semiconductor sell-off and rippled through global equities, leaving this week’s major tech earnings as a key test for the AI and crypto-linked trade.
In crypto markets, CoinDesk reported Ether was up 5% over seven sessions to about $1,860, while major tokens were mixed, including XRP near $1.09, Solana around $76, and BNB near $565, with Hyperliquid’s HYPE down 10% on the week.
