Cosign launches insurance agency in New Jersey and Texas
The company said its agency, licensed in property and casualty plus surplus lines, is intended to expand beyond its lease-guarantee platform, which it says is distinct from renters insurance.
Cosign, a rental guarantor platform, has established an insurance agency as part of its push to expand beyond its core lease-guarantee offering, according to Coverager.
Cosign Insurance Agency received a resident insurance producer license in New Jersey on June 17, 2026, covering property, casualty and surplus lines, and it secured general lines and surplus lines licenses in Texas on July 13.
Cosign, Inc. owns the agency, with co-founder and CEO Zachary Schofel serving as its designated responsible licensed producer, and co-founder and CTO Jacob Schofel listed as an officer.
The company works with landlords and property managers to help applicants qualify for rental housing, and it says its service acts as a lease guarantor when renters do not meet a property’s traditional income, credit, or rental-history requirements. Cosign’s website also states the service is distinct from renters insurance.
