Dollar steadies as oil eases and European equities bounce
AUD/USD rose 0.4% to 0.7010, while EUR/USD held around 1.1435 and USD/JPY stayed near 162.30.
Forexlive said markets were driven by lingering US Iran conflict risk, after Iran’s foreign ministry indicated diplomatic efforts and mediation proposals are continuing despite weekend attacks.
The mix eased pressure across commodities and risk assets, with West Texas Intermediate crude giving back earlier gains and falling 2.0% intraday to $80.05, while European equities recovered after a shaky start.
FX moves were modest overall, the dollar was mostly unchanged, with AUD/USD the only notable mover, up 0.4% to 0.7010, while EUR/USD was flat at 1.1435 and USD/JPY hovered around 162.30.
In parallel, gold was up 0.3% to $4,030 and 10-year Treasury yields rose 0.5 bps to 4.547% after trading near 4.57% earlier in the day.
