EU safety pilots find no major hardware risks on China’s C919

European pilots working with the EU Aviation Safety Agency have reported no major hardware risks with China’s C919 passenger jet during a months-long flight testing program in China, according to two sources cited by SCMP Economy.

The sources said the testing is a step toward potentially securing a crucial endorsement from European safety regulators, although the completion of in-flight work does not mean certification is imminent.

SCMP Economy reports the “test drive” was described as rigorous, using specialized crews to push the single-aisle jet “to extremes” to validate safety.

The flights included manoeuvres such as deliberate spins and stalls, aimed at checking structural integrity and collecting data for comparison with established certification requirements.
