Logitech China distributor fined for offensive ad likening buyers to dogs
The Shanghai Jingan market regulator fined the Logitech distributor 200,000 yuan, and China accounts for about 10% of Logitech’s sales volume, according to the report.
SCMP Economy reports that a China distributor for Logitech was fined 200,000 yuan after an advertisement for a Logitech mouse used insulting language toward consumers, including comparing people to dogs.
According to a Beijing Daily report cited by SCMP, the Shanghai Jingan district market supervisory authority imposed the penalty in late June on Shanghai Baishide Electronics Company for the ad, which said that customers would flock like dogs after prices were lowered.
SCMP Economy also reports that Baishide is a core agent for Logitech in mainland China and is authorized to run an online store on a short media platform, and that China has become the second largest market for Logitech, contributing about 10% of its sales volume.
