Crypto prices jump as ethics language revives odds for Clarity Act vote
Bitcoin traded around $66,700, up about 2% in 24 hours, after a White House agreement on the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act ethics provision was reported.
Crypto prices rose Tuesday after reports said the White House reached agreement on an ethics provision that had stalled the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act in the Senate, reviving prospects for a floor vote before Congress heads out for its August recess.
According to The Defiant, the ethics language had been the largest procedural hurdle because Democrats tied their support to clearing the Senate's 60-vote cloture threshold, making the provision a condition for votes needed to move the bill. The report also noted the specific text had not been made public and that it remained unclear what the agreement details were, even as the reported resolution eased an overhang that had frozen the legislation for weeks.
The Defiant said the ethics provision is meant to bar senior officials from holding or profiting from digital assets they are responsible for regulating, a conflict-of-interest restriction that Democratic senators had cited as the price of their support. The push to get the bill through still faces a compressed calendar and no public commitments from Democratic holdouts, with market participants urged to treat the outcome as unresolved until the revised text is public.
The article linked the timing to a broader bounce across digital assets, citing CoinGecko levels as of publication: Bitcoin around $66,700, up roughly 2% over 24 hours, Ether near $1,930 up about 1.8%, XRP around $1.15 up close to 4%, and Solana near $78 up under 1%. It also cited prediction markets, saying Polymarket passage odds had fallen into the low-to-mid 40% range during the deadlock, down from highs above 80% earlier in the year.
