Whisker Labs renames to Ting Labs as sensor expands to grid faults
Ting says its monitoring technology has helped prevent more than 30,000 potentially devastating fire hazards, and it is also adding features for grid faults and power-outage insights.
Whisker Labs, the company behind the Ting electrical fire-prevention sensor, has changed its name to Ting Labs, citing broader recognition of the Ting brand across its offerings. According to Coverager, Ting is used in more than one million homes and is offered at no cost through over 40 insurance carriers.
The company says its technology monitors a home’s electrical system to detect hazards before they cause fires, and has helped prevent more than 30,000 potentially devastating fire hazards. Coverager also reports that Ting has expanded the platform to detect dangerous electrical grid faults, deliver power outage insights, and help prevent frozen pipes.
Ting Labs said the new identity reflects its partnerships and real-world impact, including earlier work with Nationwide to distribute 500,000 Ting sensors over two years, with eligible policyholders receiving the sensor and three years of monitoring service at no cost. The article also notes that PURE plans to introduce additional loss-prevention programs for Canadian members, including the Ting sensor and three years of fire prevention services at no additional cost, covering eligible policyholders.
