Hong Kong Chinese medicine hospital to launch stroke and back pain programs

Bookings for the stroke and lower back pain programmes open on Wednesday, and the hospital plans more than 20 specialty programmes over five years.

The Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hong Kong will launch two strategic treatment programmes next week, covering stroke care and lower back pain, with bookings scheduled to open on Wednesday, according to SCMP Economy.

Hospital chief executive Bian Zhaoxiang said the hospital expects strong patient demand for traditional Chinese medicine approaches for both conditions, and that it has sufficient capacity to meet demand, with adjustments if needed.

Bian did not disclose the exact programme quota, but said the hospital will roll out 10 additional programmes in 2026, including fertility treatment and therapy for developmental delays, with the rest of the planned 23 special disease programmes scheduled over the following four years.

The programmes are part of the hospital’s five year strategic development plan, SCMP Economy reported.
