Kemper appoints Eric Kappler to lead property and casualty unit
Kemper said its prior P&C president Matthew Hunton was terminated without cause, with Hunton’s effective departure following Kappler’s planned July 30 start.
Kemper Corporation has appointed Eric Kappler as executive vice president and president of its property and casualty unit, effective July 30, replacing Matthew Hunton.
Kemper disclosed in a regulatory filing that Hunton’s departure was a termination without cause effective August 3, and the timing overlap between Kappler’s start date and Hunton’s effective exit points to an urgent transition.
Kappler will lead Kemper’s unified property and casualty organization, including its specialty personal and commercial vehicle lines and P&C claims operations, reporting to CEO Stephen J. McAnena.
The company said Kappler’s experience aligns with Kemper’s non standard vehicle focus, citing his prior role as president of Bristol West Insurance, a Farmers subsidiary, where he led a multibillion dollar non standard auto business.
