Resorts World NYC breaks ground on $5.5B Phase Two expansion

The Phase Two program will add 2.0 million square feet to the existing project and includes a 400-key hotel expansion.

Resorts World New York City has started construction on Phase Two of its $5.5 billion integrated resort project, breaking ground less than three months after the property’s grand opening and a day after unveiling 1,400 new slot machines, ConnectCRE reports.

The expansion is set to bring 2.0 million square feet of new gaming, entertainment, dining, retail, and convention space to the current one-million-square-foot development.

According to ConnectCRE, Phase Two work includes an additional 400-key hotel that will be added onto the existing Hyatt Regency, along with the Kenny “The Jet” Sports and Media Complex, which the developer says will open three years earlier than originally pledged.

Other elements planned include a 1,700-seat multi-purpose room, 1,200 additional hotel rooms under the Crockfords brand, a central plaza, and a parking garage, with Genting Group executive chairman Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay saying the project is moving ahead of schedule.
