Amap unveils five-model ABot AI system for robot embodied intelligence
The ABot upgrade targets a lack of self-evolving, end-to-end robot systems by coordinating five specialized AI models, including an outdoor navigation model with a 92.9% success rate.
Alibaba Group Holding’s mapping unit Amap has unveiled an upgraded ABot system that it says unifies a robot’s navigation and control functions into a single AI framework aimed at embodied intelligence.
According to Amap, ABot is designed to address an industry gap where individual foundation models improve separate tasks but operate independently without shared data and experience, limiting robots from forming a complete, self-evolving system.
The company said ABot uses five specialized foundation AI models working together: ABot-N1 for an “eyes guiding feet” approach, ABot-M0.5 for coordinating hands and feet simultaneously, and three additional models, ABot-ER, ABot-AgentOS, and ABot-C0.
Amap said its ABot-N1 model achieved a 92.9% outdoor success rate for city-scale autonomous navigation using only standard cameras and basic road networks, which it said helps avoid the need for costly high-definition maps.
