Brent crude tops $100 after Houthi attacks on Saudi tankers
Brent reached above $100 a barrel for the first time since May following claims of attacks in the Red Sea.
Oil prices jumped sharply Thursday, with global benchmark Brent crude moving above $100 a barrel for the first time since May.
The move followed claims by Yemen’s Houthi militants that they attacked two Saudi Arabian tankers in the Red Sea, raising supply risk concerns.
MarketWatch reported the escalation also came as President Donald Trump threatened “military punishment” on Iran, adding to geopolitical pressure on oil markets.
