Consilium names Samuel Outram managing partner for energy risk unit

Outram, who has more than 17 years in upstream and midstream energy brokerage, joins after Consilium appointed Johnny Hilliard to the role in February.

Global specialty re/insurance broker Consilium has appointed Samuel Outram as Managing Partner for its Energy Risk Solutions Division as the firm expands its specialist energy capabilities, according to Reinsurance News.

Outram brings over 17 years of experience across upstream and midstream energy markets, including expertise in first-party exposures tied to operators’ extra expense and control of well, energy related property damage, and energy packages. Most recently, he served at Amwins Global Risks as Divisional Director for Energy, after earlier energy roles at Roberts Armytage and Partners and Cogent International.

The appointment follows Consilium’s February move to name Johnny Hilliard Managing Partner of its Energy division. The company said the changes are part of a broader strategic build-out of a comprehensive energy platform, which it says spans complex risk placements shaped by geopolitical, environmental, and commercial dynamics.

Consilium CEO Peter Coleman said the firm is attracting talent to support growth in energy, and that clients increasingly need specialist advice, deep technical capability, and access to innovative solutions. Coleman also pointed to Consilium’s independent model and continued technology investment in ATOMX as part of its energy expansion.
