TotalEnergies profit jumps 68% to $6 billion on higher oil prices
The French supermajor cited a stronger price environment and higher refining and petrochemical margins for the quarter’s results.
TotalEnergies reported adjusted net income of $6 billion for the second quarter of 2026, up 68% from the prior year, with the company saying higher oil prices and stronger refining and petrochemical margins boosted earnings and cash flow, according to OilPrice.
The result also represented a 12% increase from the first quarter, compared with $3.578 billion in the year-ago period, and the outlet noted the company’s trading of crude oil and petroleum products helped support the quarter’s performance.
TotalEnergies said Exploration and Production posted adjusted net operating income of $3.2 billion and cash flow of $5.8 billion, with management attributing the increase to capturing higher average selling prices for liquids despite a lower lifting level due to difficulties accessing the Strait of Hormuz, OilPrice reported.
The average oil selling price rose by $17.90 per barrel versus the first quarter of 2026, and the European Refining Margin Marker increased 19% quarter-to-quarter to $12.4 per barrel, OilPrice added, alongside a second interim dividend of €0.90 per share for fiscal year 2026, up 5.9%.
