Bitcoin roadmap to address quantum risks could lift price fast

Charles Edwards of Capriole Investments said a Bitcoin core team quantum-hardening roadmap outlined within months could “discount” the risk quickly and drive double-digit gains.

Cointelegraph reports that Charles Edwards, founder of Capriole Investments, expects Bitcoin could jump “double digits” if developers publish a clear roadmap to harden the network against potential quantum computing attacks.

Edwards said Bitcoin’s core team should spell out a plan, including rough steps and a timeline, and that such an announcement could reassure investors “pretty much overnight,” potentially shifting sentiment quickly.

He framed quantum as a long-term threat because sufficiently powerful quantum computers could break the cryptography that protects the Bitcoin network and potentially compromise wallets, and said uncertainty around that risk has weighed on investor sentiment.

Edwards also pointed to prior Bitcoin Improvement Proposals as not being a genuine fix so far, and he noted the risk has been highlighted by BlackRock for spot Bitcoin ETF investors, calling it an upside catalyst potential if addressed.
