FBI director meets China public security chief on fentanyl, scams
The meeting in Beijing cited plans to curb fentanyl precursor flows and expand joint operations targeting scam centers and crimes against children ahead of a Trump-Xi summit in late September.
Washington and Beijing’s top police officials met in Beijing as the two sides prepare for a highly anticipated summit between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, expected in the US capital in late September, according to Xinhua.
Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Kash Patel met China’s state councillor and minister of public security, Wang Xiaohong, with Patel later posting that the trip would focus on shutting off fentanyl precursor pipelines.
Patel also highlighted efforts to expand joint operations on scam centers and violent crimes against children, along with work tied to a fugitive task force, framing the talks as continued cooperation under the Trump administration.
