North Lawndale breaks ground on Trumbull Collection of nine apartments
The $6.5 million, city-backed project replaces eight vacant lots and will add 27 mid-density homes.
Crews broke ground in North Lawndale on the Trumbull Collection, a development made up of nine market-rate three-flat apartment buildings, according to ConnectCRE.
The $6.5 million project will replace eight vacant lots on the 1600 and 1800 blocks of S. Drake Ave. and S. Trumbull Ave., creating 27 mid-density homes.
ConnectCRE said the project is being led by Westside Community Group and backed by the city through approximately $4 million in developmental assistance made available via Mayor Brandon Johnson’s $1.25 billion Housing and Economic Development Bond.
ConnectCRE added that, after completion, Westside Community Group plans to pursue a subsequent Missing Middle project in East Garfield Park, and the Trumbull Collection is one of five Missing Middle projects in North Lawndale approved to build 40 multi-unit buildings valued at $37.7 million.
