Generative AI floods housing and mortgage feeds with generic content

HousingWire says trust in AI for home search is down to 16%, while 55% of consumers still prefer a human for mortgages, raising the bar for credibility beyond visibility.

HousingWire reports generative AI is making it easy for anyone to publish large volumes of nearly identical housing and mortgage content, weakening the value of online visibility that once signaled competence.

The outlet says AI can generate market updates, rate explainers, listing descriptions, and other materials quickly by predicting the most likely next words, which tends to produce “average” takes that sound the same across profiles.

HousingWire adds that buyers now run their own research through the same tools, so loan officers and agents may find that the information itself is already in the borrower’s browser before the first conversation.

In response, HousingWire argues the differentiator shifts to trust and authority built from position, point of view, and proof, and it highlights research suggesting trust in AI for home search is 16% while 55% prefer a human for mortgages.
