MassDOT invites bids to redevelop 20 acres on Fall River waterfront
The planned site sits next to the MBTA’s new Fall River Depot commuter rail station, positioning the project for transit oriented development that could add housing and jobs.
Massachusetts transportation officials have released an invitation to bid for the redevelopment of about 20 acres of waterfront property in Fall River, along the Taunton River, ConnectCRE reports.
The property is adjacent to the MBTA’s new Fall River Depot commuter rail station and is tied to the Route 79 and Davol Street Corridor Improvements Project, creating what the outlet describes as a large scale transit oriented development opportunity.
MassDOT and Gov. Maura Healey said the redevelopment is expected to help deliver new housing, jobs, and long term economic growth for the South Coast.
The governor also pointed to the completion of South Coast Rail, saying the connection now links Fall River to the rest of the region and makes the site uniquely positioned for development that reconnects the city with its waterfront.
