Monkey on track disrupts Hong Kong MTR services for second straight day
Hong Kong’s MTR adjusted service on the Tsuen Wan line and advised extra travel time before operations resumed about 10 minutes later.
A monkey caused fresh disruption to Hong Kong rail services on Friday morning after it was spotted on the tracks at Tsuen Wan station, according to the South China Morning Post.
The MTR Corporation said services on the Tsuen Wan line were adjusted after the animal entered the track area at 10:03am, and it advised passengers to allow extra time for their journeys.
A photo released by the operator showed the monkey sitting on the tracks, facing passengers on the platform. Officers from Hong Kong’s Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, along with police, removed the animal, and services resumed about 10 minutes later.
The incident followed a similar event on Thursday morning, when a monkey entered the tracks near Kowloon Bay station during peak hours, prompting trains on the Kwun Tong line to run at reduced speeds and extending journey times by five to eight minutes, the South China Morning Post reported.
