Russia’s Sheskharis Black Sea oil terminal goes offline after drone threats
The terminal at Novorossiysk has not loaded a crude tanker since July 21, adding to the supply squeeze from the nearby CPC outage.
Russia’s largest Black Sea oil export terminal, Sheskharis at Novorossiysk, has effectively gone offline as drone threats grow, according to reporting from OilPrice citing Bloomberg.
Sheskharis has not loaded a crude tanker since July 21. The outlet previously exported an average of about 650,000 barrels per day in the first half of the year, and the disruption comes shortly after drone attacks shut down the neighboring Caspian Pipeline Consortium terminal.
Losing those barrels, even temporarily, compounds the disruption already affecting flows in the Black Sea. Kazakhstan cut oil production after CPC suspended tanker loadings, and output at Chevron’s Tengiz field was reportedly falling by more than half as storage filled and producers reduced pipeline flows.
The article adds that Ukraine has expanded drone attacks to commercial shipping and export infrastructure across the Black Sea and Sea of Azov, while Russia has warned vessels in its Black Sea economic zone that navigation is no longer considered safe due to air and sea drone threats.
