China aerospace suppliers face gaps translating defense goals into action
A May analysis published in Defence Industry Conversion in China cites a mismatch between national policy and enterprise execution, plus tension between rigid planning and fast-changing market conditions.
South China Morning Post reports that Chinese defense and aerospace suppliers are struggling to convert national strategic goals into effective, enterprise-level execution, according to an analysis by industry insiders.
The study, published in May in the academic journal Defence Industry Conversion in China, reviewed a single enterprise and found shortcomings that include a gap between national policy and corporate implementation.
The authors also pointed to a conflict between rigid planning and fast-evolving market dynamics, which they said could undermine Beijing’s implementation of its 2026 to 2030 aerospace and defense modernization aims.
According to the report, the plan frames the aerospace industry as “an emerging pillar industry,” and anticipates the sector becoming a key driver of defense and economic development.
