Corn futures hold small gains as forecast stays mostly dry

Export sales totaled 332,679 MT for old-crop corn and 701,505 MT for new-crop, according to morning data.

Corn futures ended Thursday with modest strength, keeping front-month contracts up about 2 to 3 cents, while deferred 2027 contracts were slightly lower, according to Yahoo Finance.

The national Cash Corn price, as measured by CmdtyView, rose 2 cents to $4.34 1/2.

Morning export data showed 332,679 MT of old-crop corn sales in the week of 7/16, led by Mexico at 203,300 MT, with Taiwan also buying 152,000 MT.

New-crop sales improved to 701,505 MT, while NOAA’s 7-day forecast points to very limited precipitation across much of the U.S., with only parts of southwest Nebraska, northern Missouri, and eastern Kansas expected to receive 1 to 2 inches.
