Friso maker says extra testing clears recalled batch in Hong Kong and Macau

Royal FrieslandCampina said it will arrange exchanges, swaps, or refunds with distributors and retailers after Macau authorities ordered a recall over lead levels above the 0.02mg/kg threshold.

Royal FrieslandCampina, the Dutch maker of Friso powdered infant formula, said it has conducted additional third-party quality testing on the affected product batch and that the results show it meets Hong Kong and Macau standards. In a statement on Sunday, the company said ensuring consumer safety and maintaining product quality remain its top priorities.

The comment follows recalls in Hong Kong and Macau after authorities found lead in samples from a specific batch of Frisolac Prestige Stage 1 infant formula. Macau authorities said their tests showed some samples exceeded the city’s safety threshold of 0.02mg/kg for such goods and ordered a recall of the 800g batch.

FrieslandCampina said it is contacting distributors and retailers to arrange exchanges. The company also said customers can receive swaps or refunds.
