ACCIONA Energía sells 361MW wind farm portfolio to Galp for €432m
The deal covers debt free assets, valued at €432.0m, and is expected to generate about €255m in capital gains for ACCIONA Energía.
ACCIONA Energía has finalized the sale of a 361MW portfolio of operational wind farms in Spain to Galp New Energies in a transaction valued at €432m, or $491.2m, according to the deal described by Yahoo Finance. The parties signed and closed the transaction simultaneously, with all proceeds received at closing.
The portfolio includes 15 wind farms across the provinces of Ciudad Real, Guadalajara, Navarra, Palencia, Seville and Zaragoza. The wind assets have an average operating age of 21 years, an average commercial operation date of 2005, and are expected to generate about 800GWh of electricity annually on a merchant basis.
ACCIONA Energía said the assets come with no financial debt and expects the transaction to produce a capital gain of roughly €255m as part of its selective asset rotation strategy. Galp said the purchase supports its approach to evaluating partnership opportunities and alternative financing structures while keeping flexibility in its engagement with the Iberian power market.
Following the acquisition, Galp’s installed renewable capacity will rise to 2.7GW, generating around 5TWh of electricity per year, with wind expected to represent about 30% of that total. The company noted that since 2024 ACCIONA Energía has signed agreements to sell more than 3GW of renewable capacity across Costa Rica, Mexico, Peru, South Africa, Spain and the US, totaling €3.7bn.
