Bitcoin holds above $65,000 as oil slides and yields ease

Bitcoin was up 1.1% to about $65,150, while ether and solana gained roughly 2% to 3% as oil fell nearly 7% and U.S. stock index futures rose.

Oil prices dropped sharply over the weekend as a Trump administration official said diplomacy was getting some space in the Iran situation, helping lift risk assets. WTI crude was down nearly 7% to $83.14 per barrel and Brent was down similarly, while U.S. stock index futures climbed, led by the Nasdaq 100, which was up 1.35%.

Interest rates also ticked lower by a couple of basis points, and bitcoin rose 1.1% to $65,150. Ether and solana were described as outperforming, each up closer to the 2% to 3% range.

Separate from the broader market tape, incidents involving stablecoins were reported across crypto protocols and networks. CoinDesk noted that over $1 million in stablecoins was drained across WEMIX and Garden Finance incidents, with WEMIX saying an attacker compromised a contract tied to WEMIX$ and issued about 5.23 million tokens without authorization, while Garden Finance said its protocol and user funds were not affected after a separate theft tied to hash time-locked contracts.
