Black Lake scales AI sales by hiring food delivery workers
The Shanghai-headquartered firm says its delivery-led sales push has grown to serve 35,000 factory clients, with 95% being SMEs.
Black Lake Technologies, a Shanghai-headquartered provider of cloud-based production management software, is using an unusual go-to-market strategy to sell AI automation to factories across China, hiring food delivery workers to act as sales staff, according to the South China Morning Post.
The outlet reports that founder and CEO Zhou Yuxiang said the company’s sales team, made up of more than 420 delivery workers, went through a five-day boot camp focused on explaining how AI can address specific manufacturing pain points.
Black Lake, established in 2016, says it now serves 35,000 factory clients, with 95% of customers described as small and medium-sized enterprises.
The South China Morning Post also notes that International Data Corporation ranks Black Lake as mainland China’s top provider of cloud-based production management software.
