Strategy boosts USD reserve by $525 million, extends Bitcoin pause
The firm also repurchased $25 million of STRC preferred stock for its first buyback under a $1 billion authorization, while keeping BTC holdings unchanged at 843,775.
Strategy extended its Bitcoin buying pause for a fifth straight week, instead adding $525 million to its USD Reserve, bringing cash to $3.75 billion, according to Decrypt. The firm said its Bitcoin holdings were left untouched at 843,775 BTC, with no new purchases disclosed beyond a prior 520 BTC buy for $35 million announced on June 22.
The reserve increase is intended to support recurring obligations. Strategy said the USD Reserve now covers 2.1 years of the preferred dividends and debt interest it owes each year, against $1.76 billion owed annually, and it has not added BTC during the pause.
Separately, Strategy used part of its capital authorization for a new component of its buyback plan. Decrypt reported the firm bought back $25 million of STRC preferred stock, its first purchase under a $1 billion Digital Credit Securities Repurchase Program that was approved June 29, leaving $975 million available.
The announcement also cited Strategy's approach to funding the reserve through its at-the-market activity rather than selling coins. The firm sold 5,429,160 shares of MSTR common stock between July 20 and July 26, generating $544.5 million in net proceeds, while Strategy said it has $22.98 billion of MSTR capacity left.
