Aon launches an AI Risk Diagnostic to assess AI governance and exposure
The enterprise assessment uses an AI maturity analysis and an AI risk taxonomy to produce overall maturity ratings, governance gap reporting, and prioritized recommendations.
Aon, the global insurance and reinsurance broker and risk advisor, has launched its AI Risk Diagnostic, an enterprise-level tool intended to help organizations understand and manage risks tied to the use of artificial intelligence across their operations.
The diagnostic provides an independent assessment of AI risks, controls, and maturity, linking how mature an organization’s AI governance is to where AI may be creating or amplifying exposures. Aon says the approach is designed to support better-informed decision-making by identifying where governance gaps exist.
Built by Aon’s Global Risk Consulting team, the diagnostic is aligned with recognized frameworks and guidance, including ISO, the EU Artificial Intelligence Act, and the NIST AI Risk Management Framework. It analyzes client inputs through an AI Maturity Analysis, covering governance, lifecycle management, processes, and controls, and an AI Risk Taxonomy Analysis that identifies risk areas where AI may add new risks or intensify existing ones.
Clients receive tailored reporting that includes an overall assessment of AI maturity, key governance gaps, priority areas for action, and visual tools such as dashboards, heat maps, and risk exposure mapping. Aon also said the outputs include prioritized recommendations aimed at strengthening governance, controls, compliance, and resilience, and it highlighted how AI may create operational, regulatory, cyber, liability, and business risks.
