MNK International creates dedicated energy broking division, hires MD
The new unit will cover renewable energy, battery storage, data centres, grid infrastructure, and conventional energy across multiple emerging regions.
MNK International, an independent Lloyd’s broker, has appointed William Wakeham as Managing Director, International Energy, as it launches a dedicated energy division.
The broker said the move is part of its plan to expand its energy broking capabilities in emerging and specialist markets, with Wakeham bringing more than three decades of insurance experience and prior involvement in conventional oil and gas projects and renewable energy developments, particularly in Southern Africa.
MNK International’s new responsibilities for Wakeham include building and leading the energy broking offering across renewable energy, battery storage, data centres, grid infrastructure, conventional energy, and energy security.
The division will target selected markets spanning Africa, the Middle East, Eastern and Southern Europe, the Baltics, Asia, Central America, and South America, and MNK International said engaging earlier in a project lifecycle is intended to support improved risk allocation and better insurance submissions to make projects more bankable and resilient.
