TikTok helps NYC locksmith business grow to 60 jobs per week
After launching in November 2024 and spending about $7,000 on tools and equipment, Sahar Yona’s Locksmith Girl of NYC said a single viral TikTok video drove more than 600,000 views and helped it reach as many as 60 jobs weekly.
A 27-year-old New York City locksmith says her business grew from a slow start to as many as 60 jobs per week after one TikTok video went viral, according to Yahoo Finance.
Sahar Yona launched her company, Locksmith Girl of NYC, in November 2024 after training for two years, working toward her license, and spending about $7,000 on tools and equipment, the outlet reported.
Yona linked the surge to a TikTok post that encouraged women who were uncomfortable calling a male locksmith late at night to book her services, which she said drew more than 600,000 views.
Yahoo Finance also cited industry context, noting that many locksmiths operate as solo business owners and that the average locksmith salary is about $76,000 a year, based on the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
