Inszone buys Pennsylvania hospitality broker Progress Brokerage Group

The acquisition expands Inszone’s East Coast push in a segment where standard insurers have reduced coverage for liquor liability and property risks.

Inszone Insurance Services said it has acquired Progress Brokerage Group, an agency based in Springfield, Pennsylvania that specializes in insurance for bars, restaurants, taverns, and other hospitality businesses. The deal extends Inszone’s East Coast expansion into Pennsylvania, and Progress Brokerage Group’s existing staff will remain in place, with no financial terms disclosed.

The acquisition comes as hospitality has become harder to place in the commercial insurance market. Insurance Business notes that standard carriers have pulled back from bars and restaurants on liquor liability and property risks, pushing more accounts into the excess and surplus lines market and increasing the value of brokers with established carrier relationships in the sector.

Progress Brokerage Group was founded in 2013 by Ed Snow, who built the book through referrals and community relationships across Pennsylvania and neighboring markets. Snow said cultural alignment and operational fit led to the sale, adding that Inszone’s leadership has retail insurance experience and that direct client accessibility is central to Progress’s model.

Inszone CEO Chris Walters said the East Coast remains a priority expansion region, citing Georgia, Florida, and Pennsylvania among the targeted states. The company ranked among the top three most active US broker buyers in 2025, and the article says Inszone has completed more than 130 acquisitions since its 2002 founding.
