Slide Insurance posts 92.4% jump in Q2 2026 net income
The technology-enabled insurer reported a 57.6% combined ratio, down 9.8 points year over year, as gross premiums written rose 16.7% to $508.0 million.
Slide Insurance Holdings, Inc. reported second-quarter 2026 net income of $134.9 million, up 92.4% from $70.1 million in the year-ago period, supported by profitability gains that lowered its combined ratio to 57.6%. Reinsurance News said the combined ratio improved by 9.8 points, compared with 67.4% a year earlier, reflecting a lower loss ratio and improved operating leverage.
Gross premiums written increased 16.7% to $508.0 million, up from $435.4 million in the prior-year quarter, according to the company. Slide attributed the growth to expansion in voluntary new business and renewals of previously acquired Citizens policies.
Net premiums earned rose 47.9% to $360.6 million, while total revenue increased 47.9% to $386.8 million, compared with $243.9 million and $261.6 million, respectively, a year ago. Losses and loss adjustment expenses incurred, net, totaled $108.7 million, up from $91.4 million, and the loss ratio improved to 30.2% from 37.4%.
Slide also reported policy acquisition and other underwriting expenses of $42.3 million for the quarter, compared with $32.1 million in the year-ago period, with the increase linked to higher renewal policies from assumed Citizens policies. In remarks cited by Reinsurance News, CEO Bruce Lucas said the quarter showed continued strength in Slide’s operating model and disciplined underwriting execution.
