The discussions, held over three days, centered on economic sustainability, innovation and entrepreneurship, and regional and global collaboration.

Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu met business and innovation leaders advising the city’s strategic direction as authorities draft the first local five-year plan, according to SCMP Economy.

Lee said the advisers on his Council of Advisers were confident Hong Kong would continue to play its role as a “super value-adder” and “superconnector,” after a series of lunch meetings conducted over the past three days.

SCMP Economy reports that among the participants were new council members Sun Piaoyang, chairman of China’s largest drug maker Jiangsu Hengrui Pharmaceuticals, and Xu Tao, CEO of StarFive Semiconductor Technology.

Lee said Hong Kong faces a competitive external environment and accelerating technological change, and needs a long term perspective with more systematic strategies for key development areas, the outlet added. The latest discussions focused on economic advancement and sustainability, innovation and entrepreneurship, and regional and global collaboration.
