Strategy reports $8.22B loss in Q2 as Bitcoin price declines

The Nasdaq-listed firm increased its Bitcoin holdings by 11% in the quarter and now holds 843,775 Bitcoins worth $54.6 billion at current prices.

Bitcoin treasury company Strategy reported a loss of $8.22 billion for the second quarter of 2026, attributing the results to the decline in Bitcoin's price, according to a report by Bitcoin Magazine.

Strategy, which is Nasdaq-listed under the ticker MSTR and previously known as MicroStrategy, said it strengthened its balance sheet while continuing to raise capital, buy more Bitcoin, and pay down debt during the quarter.

The company also increased its Bitcoin holdings by 11% over the quarter. It now holds 843,775 Bitcoins valued at $54.6 billion at today’s prices, after pausing Bitcoin purchases for about five weeks earlier to focus on adding cash to its balance sheet.

Bitcoin Magazine said Bitcoin is down nearly 50% from its all-time high of $126,080 in October 2025, and was recently priced at $64,745, down 26% year-to-date, a move that can impact Strategy's leveraged exposure via its stock.
