Hong Kong Cat Expo draws crowds with AI pet robots and ginseng

The three-day expo at Wan Chai is running with more than 185 exhibitors and 400 booths, alongside products priced from HK$749 to HK$1,579.

Thousands of people turned out for the opening day of the annual Hong Kong Cat Expo, despite rainstorm warnings, spending on items ranging from pet companion robots to ginseng supplements, according to SCMP Economy.

The three-day event, held at the Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai, has been running annually since 2023 and this year features more than 185 exhibitors and 400 booths, spotlighting new pet-focused businesses.

One featured product is an AI smart companion robot from Futex Corporation, which includes a mobile app that lets owners monitor, talk to and play with their cats, plus a built-in mobile security camera, the outlet said.

Pricing for the robot models is reported at HK$749 to HK$1,579, and some higher-end versions add laser lights, treat dispensers, cat teaser wands, or simulated animal sound effects, while Futex product manager Kevin Koo said the device can help locate pets that like to hide.
