ULI names nine winners for 2026 Americas Awards for Excellence
The awards drew 93 submissions, with a 15-member jury selecting 16 finalists before naming nine winning developments across the Americas.
Urban Land Institute has selected nine developments as winners of its 2026 ULI Americas Awards for Excellence, according to ConnectCRE. The awards considered 93 projects and programs, from which a 15-member jury picked 16 finalists before narrowing to nine winners.
Among the winning projects is Highland Phase II in Austin, which converted a vacant shopping mall into Austin Community College’s flagship campus for about 5,000 students. ConnectCRE says the 420,000-square-foot adaptive reuse effort incorporates salvaged building components, including structural steel, and includes a redesign aimed at improving walkability and public access.
ConnectCRE also highlights Toronto’s Line 5 Eglinton as the largest transit expansion in decades in the city. The project includes 11.8 miles of track and 25 stations, is designed to connect 22 communities, and is projected to serve about 123,200 daily passengers by 2027.
The winning list further includes Mission Rock Phase One, which reworked a former industrial waterfront and surface parking lot into a publicly accessible neighborhood through a public/private partnership that took more than 17 years of planning and community engagement, ConnectCRE reports. The development is anchored by a five-acre China Basin Park and supports residential, commercial, and retail components.
