Hong Kong launches district consultations for policy address and 5-year plan
The two-month public consultation runs through August 14, with John Lee pledging to release the plan by year-end.
Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu and his ministers will hold the first district consultation session in Tuen Mun on Sunday, to gather views on Lee’s coming policy address and the city’s inaugural five-year plan, according to SCMP Economy.
The session will focus on aligning Hong Kong’s development with a national blueprint covering 2026 to 2030, with the consultation set to run for two months and end on August 14.
SCMP Economy reports that participation at the venue is limited to government-chosen residents and district representatives. Lee will also only address media inquiries after the next district session scheduled for the following Sunday.
In social media posts, Lee said the government launched public consultations in June for both blueprints and that his team has attended more than 80 sessions, held both in person and online, to collect feedback from various sectors. He also pledged to release the plan by the end of the year, the outlet added.
