Soybeans slip on Friday as weekly losses mount

USDA said a private export sale of 252,000 MT of 2026/27 soybeans was registered, while spec traders added 30,101 contracts to their net long position.

Soybeans closed lower on Friday, posting losses across most futures contracts. August fell 76 cents on the week, while November dropped 66 cents, though November still finished up 43 3/4 cents for the month, according to Yahoo Finance.

The report also pointed to weaker related markets, with soymeal futures down $1.90 to $3.50 across most contracts and soy oil futures lower in the front months. The cmdtyView national average cash bean price was down 7 1/2 cents to $11.41 1/4, Yahoo Finance said.

USDA reported a private export sale of 252,000 MT of 2026/27 soybeans to unknown destinations. Commitment of Traders data cited in the article showed spec traders adding 30,101 contracts to their net long position in soybean futures and options for the week ending July 28, lifting net long to 155,001 contracts by Tuesday.

The article noted weather expectations for weekend rains across parts of Eastern Iowa, Southern Wisconsin and Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. It also cited USDA export sales totals, including old crop soybean sales at 41.682 MMT (101% of the USDA forecast) and new crop bean sales at 7.469 MMT, described as a 4-year high and 146.1% above the same period last year, as reported by Yahoo Finance.
