BlackRock discloses 7.2% passive stake in Ondas, boosts ONDS attention

BlackRock reported owning 38.1 million shares of Ondas, as the stock is down 25.2% in 2026 and short interest has stayed above 30% for more than five months.

BlackRock has disclosed a new passive stake in Ondas, according to a Schedule 13G filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, putting 38.1 million shares under its ownership. The filing shows the investment is equivalent to 7.2% of Ondas.

The disclosure has drawn renewed attention to Ondas, a company developing autonomous systems and advanced technology products for defense and industrial customers. Yahoo Finance notes the timing comes as Ondas has announced multiple defense contracts and strategic acquisitions during 2026.

Despite that activity, Ondas shares have faced bearish pressure, with the stock down 25.2% year to date, and short interest above 30% for over five months. The outlet says the higher visibility of institutional ownership has led some investors to speculate about potential sentiment shifts, including the possibility of a short squeeze.

Ondas is headquartered in West Palm Beach, Florida, and operates through Ondas Autonomous Systems and Ondas Networks. Its autonomous systems business includes AI-powered drones and ground robots, while its networks division provides software-defined wireless broadband used for mission-critical communications across sectors including rail, utilities, transportation, energy, and government.
