KKR closes $19.2B infrastructure fund focused on data centers and fiber
KKR Global Infrastructure Investors V targets North America and Western Europe and has already committed more than $9B across nine investments.
KKR has closed its KKR Global Infrastructure Investors V fund at $19.2B, with plans to invest in critical infrastructure assets including data centers and fiber optics, as well as energy and related storage and logistics holdings, according to Bisnow. The firm said the fund is its largest-ever infrastructure vehicle.
The new fund will focus on three categories, energy power and transition, storage and logistics, and digital infrastructure such as data centers and fiber optics. KKR Global Infrastructure Investors V will primarily pursue opportunities in North America and Western Europe, the outlet reported, citing a company statement.
KKR said it has already committed more than $9B to nine investments, including acquisitions tied to The Parking Spot and EDF Power Solutions’ North American operations. Investors supporting the fund include pension plans, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies, asset managers, private wealth platforms, and family offices, Bisnow added.
Bisnow reported KKR told Bloomberg it has been able to grow its infrastructure platform, with infrastructure equity rising from $13B in 2019 to $120B today. KKR also said it is being selective about investments, avoiding assets with contracts that renew in five to seven years and some digital infrastructure valuations that would require substantial growth to avoid losses.
