Trump says US-Iran talks are a final opportunity for Tehran
The US dollar was stronger against the British pound during the session, while FXStreet noted EUR/USD moved closer to 1.1500 as USD’s outlook improved.
US President Donald Trump said the United States is holding talks with Iran and that the discussions are taking place at Tehran’s request. In remarks carried by FXStreet, Trump characterized the negotiations as a “last chance” for Iran.
The report also tied market behavior to the broader Iran headline flow. FXStreet said the British pound was trimming earlier gains against the US dollar on Monday and trading back in the mid-1.3400s after a rally, with weaker-than-expected UK manufacturing data cited as additional pressure.
FXStreet further noted EUR/USD accelerating lower and moving closer to the 1.1500 level. The outlet attributed the move to a US dollar correction that improved on the back of solid US data and easing geopolitical concerns.
In commodities linked to the same risk backdrop, FXStreet said gold added to a prior pullback but remained underpinned below the key $4,000 threshold per troy ounce. It also pointed to shifting expectations around a potential US-Iran peace deal and the likelihood of a Federal Reserve rate hike affecting the US dollar’s recovery.
