American Bitcoin shares jump after adding more BTC despite quarterly loss
American Bitcoin increased its Bitcoin holdings to 8,002 coins from 7,021, even as it posted a $57.2 million second-quarter net loss on lower prices.
American Bitcoin, a publicly traded Bitcoin miner, saw its stock rise more than 5% on Monday after the company reported it had increased its Bitcoin holdings. The NASDAQ-listed firm said its crypto stack grew from 7,021 to 8,002 coins.
The update came alongside the firm’s second-quarter results, which showed a net loss of $57.2 million in 2026, compared with a profit of $3.4 million in the same period a year earlier, according to Bitcoin Magazine. The loss was attributed to the decline in Bitcoin’s price, but the company said it continued adding the largest cryptocurrency to its treasury.
American Bitcoin also said its production hit its highest quarterly level on record, adding about 932 Bitcoin mined in the second quarter. The company reported it now holds a reserve worth over $510.6 million at today’s prices and ranks as the 16th largest Bitcoin treasury, per Bitcoin Treasuries data.
Bitcoin Magazine noted that some Bitcoin miners have faced headwinds as mining costs and difficulty have risen even as Bitcoin’s price has fallen, with some companies pivoting toward high-powered computing for artificial intelligence. American Bitcoin said its focus remains on mining, while co-founder Eric Trump reiterated the company’s long-term conviction in Bitcoin and goals tied to balance sheet strength and Bitcoin per share growth.
