About 34% of Hong Kong Jupas applicants get university places
Jupas offered places to about 34.3% of 45,545 applicants, with total applications up 5.3% year on year.
About 34.3% of students who applied through Hong Kong’s Joint University Programmes Admissions System, or Jupas, were offered tertiary places this year, a slight decline versus last year as competition increased, according to SCMP Economy.
Jupas said 15,619 applicants were offered places at local universities or on subsidised diploma courses under the system, down from 15,808 of 43,269 applicants the prior year.
The outlet said CUHK and HKU each offered places to half of the 24 top scorers in this year’s Diploma of Secondary Education examinations, with CUHK allocating spots to a dozen top scorers for medicine programmes.
SCMP Economy also reported that applications rose by about 5.3% year on year to 45,545, and that one top scorer said she would study computer science at the University of Oxford.
