FirstHome IQ relaunches homebuyer education platform for first-time buyers
The nonprofit said its research found 63.0% of millennials and Gen Z feel overwhelmed by homebuying information, and 42.0% have delayed speaking with a housing professional as a result.
FirstHome IQ, a Los Angeles-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit, relaunched its homeownership education ecosystem designed to help renters who feel “overwhelm” move toward first-time homebuying. HousingWire reports the free platform is built to guide consumers through core decisions in plain language and provide a personalized plan.
The relaunch includes a consumer education hub, a professional resource center for lenders and real estate agents, personalized education pages for a national network of “ambassadors,” and a redesigned main site. FirstHome IQ says the program also features courses, quizzes, and classroom-style games for first-time buyers.
The initiative is based on research with more than 9,000 millennial and Gen Z consumers and thousands of housing professionals, published in the NextGen Homebuyer Report. According to the nonprofit, 63.0% of respondents feel overwhelmed by homebuying information, while 42.0% have delayed talking to a housing professional.
FirstHome IQ said many would-be buyers are already closer to being mortgage-ready than they believe, citing that two-thirds report saving regularly and three-quarters keep a budget. The nonprofit argues that information overload reduces demand because overwhelmed buyers disengage, sometimes for years.
