HueHub developer seeks new lawyers as court dispute escalates
The $880 million seven-tower Live Local Act project has zoning approval but has not started construction, and the latest filing would grant Castro 45 days to replace counsel if granted.
Pablo Castro, the developer behind The HueHub, is seeking a fourth set of attorneys as his legal dispute with his former partner moves forward in Miami-Dade County Circuit Court, according to a filing reviewed by Bisnow.
Attorneys Mitchell Widom, Raquel Fernandez and Michael Morgan moved to withdraw as counsel for Castro, citing irreconcilable differences that they say prevent them from continuing to represent the defendants. If the motion is approved, Castro would have 45 days to find new representation, the filing states.
The HueHub is a planned $880 million workforce housing project with seven towers aimed at addressing Miami-Dade County's affordability crisis. The project received zoning approval a year ago but has not yet broken ground.
Bisnow reports that The HueHub is among the largest proposed projects under Florida's Live Local Act, a law that allows developers to exceed local height limits if at least 40% of units are reserved for residents earning up to 120% of the area median income. The developer reached an agreement in August 2025 to dedicate most units with fully furnished, fixed rents for 10 years to Miami-Dade firefighters, police officers, and county employees, but momentum has stalled amid litigation including claims by Laura Tauber that she is owed up to $150 million. Castro has denied her allegations, saying her partner listing reflected an understanding she would raise and invest equity and share project costs that he says she did not provide.
