JLL executive promoted to scale leasing advisory work in New York

JLL said it recently facilitated a $58 million Downtown Brooklyn development site sale and a $31 million Midwood shopping center sale, as AI tenants take more office space.

Angela Gentry joined JLL in 2022 in a role created for her covering the New York tri-state area, and in May she was promoted to vice chairman of leasing advisory for the region, Commercial Observer reported in an interview published Monday. The outlet described her job as scaling what JLL does in New York City nationally, with a focus on aligning the brokerage's leasing and sales work for both the firm and its clients.

Commercial Observer reported that JLL has handled multiple deals connected to its sales activity, including a $58 million sale of a development site in Downtown Brooklyn and a $31 million sale of a shopping center in Midwood, Brooklyn. The interview also highlighted leasing work tied to technology tenants.

On the leasing side, the outlet said JLL is seeing demand from AI-related companies that are taking more office space, citing recent transactions including a 98,420-square-foot deal for AI firm Legora at SL Green Realty’s 11 Madison Avenue and a 13,754-square-foot lease for Genius AI at ZG Capital Partners’ 838 Broadway.

Commercial Observer used the interview to frame Gentry’s broader approach, including building teams that support brokers during pitches or proposals and expanding a more proactive process for targeting clients and prospects earlier in the sales cycle. The reporting also noted that her leasing advisory position is not yet mirrored the same way in JLL’s other markets.
