AXA XL to acquire remaining stake in S-RM cyber intelligence firm
The deal will bring S-RM fully under AXA XL Risk Advisory once it closes, after the insurer already held about a 49% stake.
AXA XL has agreed to acquire the remaining shares of S-RM, a corporate intelligence and cyber security consultancy in which it already holds an approximately 49% stake, expanding its ownership of a vendor that supports cyber incident response panels.
S-RM, founded in 2005, has worked with AXA XL for more than 15 years across roles as client and vendor, and later as investor and investee. The company serves clients in 140 countries and provides cyber risk assessment, managed detection and incident response, specialist investigations, geopolitical intelligence, and integrity and reputational due diligence.
Cyber incident response panels are designed to deliver consistent, vetted investigators regardless of which insurer a client selects, and the effectiveness of that consistency depends in part on whether vendors serve multiple carriers at once. The announcement leaves open whether S-RM will continue that cross-carrier role after it becomes fully owned by AXA XL, and whether rival insurers would change how they treat the vendor on their own panels.
Once the transaction closes, S-RM will operate as part of AXA XL Risk Advisory, a business unit AXA XL created recently for prevention services. The unit traces back to May 2026, when AXA XL launched it as its fifth business unit, alongside Americas, APAC and Europe, UK and Lloyd's, and Reinsurance.
