Bitcoin holds near $64,700 as Middle East tensions lift oil and gold

Brent crude rose above $83 a barrel after Yemen’s Iran-linked Houthis attacked Saudi Arabia, a move CoinDesk linked to renewed inflation pressure and tighter financial conditions.

Bitcoin was little changed near $64,700 on Friday, CoinDesk reported, while the broader CoinDesk 20 index was down 0.2% over the same 24-hour period.

CoinDesk said Brent crude moved to above $83 a barrel after Yemen’s Iran-linked Houthis attacked Saudi Arabia, further escalating Middle East tensions. The outlet added that higher oil could worsen inflation pressure if sustained, and that elevated Treasury yields could tighten financial conditions.

The same report noted gold maintained its recovery, rising 1.5% to trade at $4,300 per ounce as investors shifted toward safety amid uncertainty. CoinDesk said the combination of oil and higher yields could weigh on expectations for near-term rate cuts and pressure bitcoin and other risk assets.

At the time of writing, CoinDesk also pointed to ongoing crypto market developments in the news feed, including reports about Ethereum staking token weETH and Wintermute receiving SEC approval to trade equities and ETF blocks.
