James Allen joins Camber Property Group as senior counsel
Allen left the real estate law firm Hirschen Singer & Epstein to help Camber’s affordable housing and community development work across New York and the tri-state region.
Camber Property Group has hired James Allen as senior counsel for its affordable housing and community development transactions, Commercial Observer reported. Allen started the role this week after departing the real estate law firm Hirschen Singer & Epstein.
Camber said Allen will support affordable housing projects across New York state and the broader New York tri-state region. In a statement, Allen pointed to a growing trend among developers to broaden both the types of projects they pursue and the geographic footprint they cover in response to the housing affordability crisis.
Allen previously spent four years as an associate at Nixon Peabody and worked as a senior staff attorney for the New York Court of Appeals. He also has ties to housing and affordability efforts, including writing articles on housing equity and affordability while serving on the board of the New York Housing Conference’s Rising Leaders Network and the New York City Bar Association’s Housing & Urban Development Committee.
Camber said the move is intended to strengthen and expand its New York presence, with Allen’s work also supporting outreach to other regions. Allen said he is expanding on his prior focus while working with legal partners he has worked with previously as Camber grows its footprint.
